About Unexpected Essex

The Podcast:

Unexpected Essex was a consequence of Eri’s love of three things – the county she calls home, falling down research rabbit holes, and being a chatterbox. After a few years of contemplating what it might be like to be a podcaster, she sat down one day and made several mind maps, one for each of the districts in Essex. Realising there wasn’t going to be a shortage of things to talk about, she made the rookie error of buying a domain name for the website. “Oops. Better actually make a podcast now,” she thought. And thus, the podcast was born! Tune in for the weird and wonderful side of a criminally underrated and underestimated county that will have you saying “I never knew that about Essex!”

Eri Berry:

Eri is the one-woman team responsible for the podcast. Everything from researching, script-writing, recording, editing, image sourcing, image attributions, website management, social media management, to serving the Housewolf and ensuring a steady supply of treats and bellyrubs falls to her. When she’s not at her day job or working on the podcast, she enjoys video games, reading, baking, and snuggles with the Housewolf.

The Housewolf:

The Housewolf is the face of Housewolf Productions, and the mascot of Unexpected Essex. She’s an Utonagan, which is apparently a mix of German Shepherd, Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky. Eri and Mr. Unexpected Essex rescued her via RSPCA Danaher back in 2020 after lockdown lifted. She’s been a part of the family ever since, shedding fur on every surface and stealing food from every plate. In Eri’s eyes, she is a precious angel baby who can do no wrong (even when she’s being a menace).

A beautiful grey and white husky dog with pointed ears sitting with her paws up on the back of a sofa. She has her tongue sticking out just a tiny bit.
